[ 04 — The Method ]

A few things I believe about a name worth protecting.

01

Truth travels faster

In a crisis, silence is a statement. We move with clarity and speed — the right message, to the right people, before the narrative writes itself.

02

Reputation is capital

A name takes years to build and minutes to bruise. Every placement, every quote, every response is treated as an investment in what your name is worth.

03

Access is earned

Relationships with Tier-1 press are built on trust, not pitches. Two decades of credibility open doors that cold outreach never will.

[ 05 — In the Press ]

Tier-1 press. Across every arena.

Coverage from The New York Times and Reuters to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter — spanning global sports, high-stakes legal matters, government and landmark campaigns.

Crisis PR Through a Federal Trial

Pras Michel — Fugees

The Challenge

A well-known musician faced a multi-year federal case involving international lobbying and financial charges — the kind of story that gets a headline with every new filing, witness or setback. By the time it reached trial, his name was being flattened into one word: guilty. My job wasn't to argue the case — that's what the lawyers are for. It was to make sure the person didn't disappear behind the case.

The Approach

This work lives at the intersection of legal strategy and public narrative, and the two have to move in lockstep. I stayed in constant contact with counsel so nothing said publicly ever undercut a legal position, was deliberate about when to speak and when silence served him better, and made sure every statement — even a hard one responding to a conviction or a lengthy sentence — sounded like it came from a person, not a legal department. That same tone carried through wildly different news cycles: indictment, a trial with unexpected celebrity witnesses, a guilty verdict, sentencing and an appeal.

The Result

His story stayed a story about a legal fight in progress, not a closed book. Coverage consistently included his perspective and his team's next steps rather than only the prosecution's version, and the statements around the toughest moments were widely picked up largely as written — usually the best sign a message landed the way it was meant to.

[ 07 — FAQ ]

Questions, answered.

What does a crisis PR consultant do?

A crisis PR consultant helps you control the story when your reputation is on the line — rapid-response messaging, holding statements, media strategy and stakeholder communication. Erica Dumas delivers crisis management help that protects reputation and restores trust, fast.

Full answer page

How do I hire a crisis communications consultant?

Reach out through the contact form or email contact@ericadumas.com with a short note about your situation. You work directly with Erica as an independent consultant — she responds quickly and confidentially, often within hours.

Full answer page

What's the difference between public relations and crisis management?

Public relations proactively builds visibility and positive coverage; crisis management protects it when things go wrong. Erica Dumas does both — proactive PR campaigns and high-stakes crisis PR.

Full answer page

Who does Erica Dumas work with?

Billionaire CEOs, Grammy-winning musicians, NBA players, FIFA 2026 World Cup athletes, attorneys, universities, brands and causes — across sports, entertainment, government, law, real estate and technology.

Full answer page

How fast can you respond to a crisis?

Crises move in minutes, so we do too. Erica offers rapid-response crisis PR with holding statements and a clear plan, typically the same day you reach out.

Full answer page

How should we respond to negative press or a viral post about our company?

Don't improvise. The first hours decide whether a story dies or snowballs: get the facts, agree one holding statement, and route every response through one voice. Erica Dumas provides emergency crisis communications support — reputation damage control for companies in the news, from negative press to a viral social media post — typically engaged the same day you reach out.

Full answer page

How much does crisis PR cost?

It depends on the stakes and the timeline — an urgent rapid-response engagement is scoped differently from an ongoing retainer. What matters more is the cost of getting it wrong: a mishandled story is far more expensive than a well-run response. Share your situation through the contact form for a confidential, same-day scoping conversation.

Full answer page

What are the signs your company needs a crisis communications plan?

If you're in a regulated or high-profile industry, if one bad headline would move your business, if leadership would freeze in front of a camera, or if there's no agreed chain of command for a bad-news day — you need one. Erica builds crisis communications plans, media training for executives and playbooks that hold up before the moment arrives.

Full answer page

Can I hire Erica Dumas as a spokesperson?

Yes. Erica Dumas is a professional, media-trained spokesperson who represents individuals, brands and organizations on the record — on camera, on stage and under pressure. She also prepares executives and talent through media training and message discipline.
